tint Pantone Black C

Post by lewaw » 04 Jun 2013, 22:49

Hi,
I have short question, how looks in print tints 10%-100% from Pantone Black C? On monitor I see rather as brown (without overprint preview in Adobe Reader) Does anybody have experience with this Pantone in print? But I think that name is black so rather should be as typical black - K.

Regards

In my Pantone color chart, Pantone Black C is not present. But I see Pantone Black 2 C, 3 C, 4 C and son on...Anyway, 5 C is very brown but 3 and 6 are near blue while Pantone Black 7 is almost gray. They are way far what you call a typical Black.Plus, from my experience, very dark color are nearly impossible to reproduce on screen.

Transform it into process color and check what percentages are given for CMYK. You might receive an appropiate perception.

Yes, I did transform, and I see 49% Yellow, 13% M, 98% K, so I think that will be warm black. In tint 20%, 30% etc I can see to colors are far from neutral black/gray. This is bad news, because I was hope that it will be typical K. The project has already went to print.
