World Cup 2014

Post by Glenn McDowall » 18 Jun 2014, 13:44

Its time to stop moaning about quark software and have a moan about the miserable progress your team is making in Brazil. Any Spanish?
In the abscence of Paul the Octopus ths year who do you think will win it? I'd say Argentina, though the Netherlands have looked the best team to me I can't see them playing like they did against Spain all the way and they were not so good against Australia.
As for England, I'm still optimistically hopeful of reaching the quarter final , but they'll have to improve to beat Costa Rica[ip][:)]

World Cup 2014

Hi Glenn,
excuse me? It's of course going to be Germany. [:D]
Though Netherlands played well in the first game and Chile played two really impressive games.
Cheers

World Cup 2014

I'm now supporting Italy... well at least for two more games. Why can't the England players play like they do for their clubs, After last night's efforts I say drop the lot of them and let the rest of the squad play Costa Rica, only Rooney Sturridge and Cahill appeared to be trying.
As for Germany, I didn't get to see their 1st match so will take a close look on Saturday Night.

Chile impressed me very positively! Ghana too. I really appreciate the way they fight!
Belgium has all the good players for going far but they still seem to miss sth.
Haven't find the time for seeing every single team playing so it's very hard to say not knowing their way. Great teams such as England, Portugal, Spain, Argentina would have gain my pronostics but they don't even seem to get through…
I think there are more surprises to come. Which ones? I don't know… Algeria also played very well against South Korea…

Germany were not so impressive on Saturday, are you still confident?
South Korea vs Algeria was really entertaining, who needs defenders anyway?

In the meanwhile Holland has played and defeated Chile :| Brasil does not impress me that much. Looking forward to seeing France-Ecuador :) (my wife is French but as a good Belgian France is not really my favorite team :) More matches to come and more surprises too…

The second half of Germany and Ghana was a thriller, I thought both teams played forward well and both lacked in defense.

My wife is Dutch, so yes, hup Nederlands hup and Schland, Deutschland! ;)
I think both can only meet in the final, so that woudl be might personal nightmare.

Cheers

It depends if Germany places first or second in their group. First means final, second semi-final.

We'll see on thursday....

Hi Jean Marie
Gordon Strachan last night said about Belgium, and I agree, he hasn't seen anything amazing or stand-out yet from them but they are a very solid outfit, well organized and it's going to take a very good team to beat them.
Having seen most of them every week in the English Premier League, they certainly have the individual talent, if they can play as a team and get the work-rate of Chile you may not waste your golden generation.

I'm still betting on Argentina to lift the trophy, but will mostly supporting other teams :D
