Hardware key.

Post by Tracer » 06 Nov 2017, 08:31

I am unable to "collect for output". Quark 8.1.6 on a iMac.

I used to be able to for years! Now I get this message: "Hardware key not found. Please shut down your computer and install the correct hardware key [5]".

What is a hardware key and how do I install it?

Hi Tracer,

hardware keys only existed for version 4, so this is a wrong error.

Please delete preferences, this should fix it.

Thanks
Matthias

There are no files in the Library/Quark/preferences folder.

Now what?

Preferences on Mac are by default here:
/Users/<yourname>/Library/Preferences/Quark/QuarkXPress 8/
(Make sure that you choose your user library, not the system library. Apple hides the user's library, press the option key and then use the "Go" menu to select it)

Alternatively you can create a global preferences folder in the application folder of QuarkXPress 8.

Thanks
Matthias
