Post Count

Post by UtahLlama » 31 Jul 2018, 14:25

any chance of a re-count :?:
User's total number of Posts have been slashed, I'm sure I've posted more than 60 odd

also here is a link to Scripting Ace celebrating 1000 posts and I reckon he doubled that since but its showing more than 300 short of 1000 at the moment.

Yeah, weird.

I just re-ran the statistics and numbers changed again. When you click on your post count, then you see more. Not sure what phpBB counts.

Any chance the number below the avatars are threads and not posts?

The post count is always going to be off.

This forum has changed three times since it came back in 2004 (yes, it was here before 2004 which is why my signature says member since 2001).

But before all of that there was one particular instance where the web admins at the time did not have a backup. The forum lost an entire week of threads because a week's old backup was the only backup to be had.

We lost several posts when we transitioned from phpBB2 to another platform. There was the transition from that platform to a different one and from there back to this version of phpBB.

All-in-all, I personally am missing a little over a 1000 posts on my count.

Unfortunately, it's all gone. All that content has never been recovered.

Mark Lawler
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6572

and Matt James
memberlist.php?mode=viewprofile&u=6677

are the people who would know. Absolutely NO idea if they are still Quark employees however.

Matt James, btw, was the one responsible for the actual switching and maintenance of the forum.

Here is the uproar about losing that entire week: viewtopic.php?f=14&t=7353&p=39331

And this would be the discussion about the switch from phpBB2 to whatever it was (paid software) for the forum switch in 2008.

Hi Sarbjit!

How are you and your family?

Had to leave Facebook over a year ago. But I still drop in here at least once a day.

As you may see from my signature I'm using InDesign (we switched in 2011). So, my last major experience with XPress has been version 8.

I try and help out here still if there are any general questions I can answer, but I don't really know the new stuff.

The Sofa though is still comfortable. :)

Life is treating us well here. Just a little too humid because of the rains :)

Too bad that you had to switch, we lost one of our most active members. And, enjoy the Sofa!!

It's more humid here now then normal as well. In the middle of our monsoon season. Not very enjoyable outside combined with Phoenix heat (110º or so).

I actually made the switch to ID on purpose. I wanted to round out my resumé, but the only way I was going to learn InDesign was to be paid to do it. I wasn't interested in picking it up just for personal reasons.

So, since I DO get paid to do my job I started using ID instead. On the job, paid training. :)

I figure I will switch back to XPress full time when I have as many years using ID that I had using XPress.

And you have not lost me! I'm still here. I just don't have the answers to questions about more current versions of XPress. :)

yay
the count is going backwards I'm down to 58 including this one.
I guess this is expected behaviour from a program named after a fundamental physics particle :D (or cheese  )
Eric, maybe the lost posts are still out there wasn't there a deeper way of searching with google?.
I found one of my previous avatar's first posts on his forum dated Nov2004 but I swear it was about 2001
