Bad PDF Screen Preview

Post by ampegg66 » 13 Apr 2016, 18:34

In Quark 2015 (11.1) on Yosemite 10.10.5, an imported PDF looks bizarre on-screen (the background goes black), but looks OK on PDF output.

I'm using the Quark Generic RGB profile, since QXP 2015 is unable to use a calibrated profile (gives bizarre results, here's that post: viewtopic.php?f=49&t=28406).

Should you have Acrobat Distiller available: redistill the PDF and reimport. This works most of the time for us.

The PDF was supplied by the advertiser, so I don't have access to the native files. I did try optimizing it, but it didn't help. This is the first time one of their ads has run since we moved to QXP 2015 and Yosemite, and it's the first time we've had a problem with one of their files.

After talking with pjanssen, I was able to export the PDF as a Postscript file (duh on my part) and run it back through Distiller. That did solve the problem. I appreciate the help.

Hi ampegg66,

Thank you for contacting Quark.

Could you please share the PDF file in which the background is imported as Black colored.

Also, kindly provide the profile in which you are facing the display issue.

Thanks
