Invalid Configuration-Aborting boot message

Ask questions about creating HTML5 Publications and HTML pages – both fixed or responsive – using QuarkXPress 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019. HTML5 Publications allow you to create online publications with near-WYSIWYG typography & design and app-like interactivity – at no extra cost.

Also learn about Progressive Web App (PWA) export from QuarkXPress 2018. And see how truly responsive layouts using CSS flexboxes are possible, using the Flex Layout in QuarkXPress 2019. All without having to code of course.

Invalid Configuration-Aborting boot message

Post by Phil40 » 13 Feb 2018, 10:02

I have tried several time to export html5 documents to my web server I always get the above message.

I have noted that .json not being enabled is often suggested as a cause so I checked that first. My server has json enabled.

I have had Fasthosts testing it for a couple of days and all they can say is that every script they run works fine - they say the problem is in the script craeted by QuarkExpress.

Any ideas please.

(I am a novice)

Hello Phil,

There are two possibilities here:
1. The Server is unable to fetch Json. OR
2. Json is malformed.

Could you pleas share the URL, where you hosted the HTML5 output to analyze further.

I put it in a folder on my website: http://www.eaholidays.co.uk/soon%20folder/index.html

Its just a test page to see if it works.

In the console, we can see that reader-config.json is not accessible.

http://www.eaholidays.co.uk/soon%20fold ... 9278442339 404 (Not Found)

There are two possibilities for this to happen:
• Folder where HTML5 is hosted does not has read permissions.
• It seems you are using IIS 7.5, which requires additional steps to load .json files.

Please try this:
• Checks permissions of the files in the exported package.
• If the MIME type is not added, please add it to the IIS configuration.
Extension - .json
MIME Type – application/json

Steps to add MIME type: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/iis/co ... nt/mimeMap

Hi Sarbjit

I am confused - I don't really understand your reply but - I am not hosting this on my PC. It is uploaded to a server at 'FASTHOSTS' who are a hosting service.
