Overset Text: Struggling

Post by user26732 » 31 Aug 2018, 00:44

I am trying to create a new project where the text flows automatically.

Step one: create project, click on "Automatic Text Box" Image

Step two: create blank text box covering the entire page.

Step three: copy and past unformatted text. Image

The red box showing overset text shows up but there is no way to correct it.

What am I doing wrong? This is frustrating.

Is the solution to leave the number of pages blank, or put in a very high value, like '1000'? There's no way to know the number of pages in advance.

Hi user,

skip step 2 and then everything will work. ;-)

Background: When you check "Automatic Text Box", QuarkXPress creates a text box for you (within the boundaries of the margins, so maybe you didn't notice it). If there's text in THAT box and the text is too much, then QuarkXPress creates a new page. Therefore you cna create just one page initially and QuarkXPress will add more pages automatically (up to 2000).

Give it try please.

Thanks
Matthias

P.S.: There's a preference to prohibit the creation of new pages, however I don't think that this is the cause here.
