Mike, thanks.

I don't recall which site I originally downloaded it from. But I did delete the font and downloaded again from another site yesterday (I don't even recall which one...it's on nearly every site!) to try reloading, but I came up with the same result.

No, I didn't convert to boxes, but I just tried that, and it seems to have worked using "Convert Entire Box". (I'm not even sure what converting to boxes means). Should I be doing that to all my text boxes?

But once again, you've saved me. THANK YOU!

Converting to boxes means that the font is not a "live" font anymore--i.e., one that the text can be changed as text. The outline shape of the font has been converted to curves. One should only do it on a copy of the document as it is not reversible.

Seeing how it is such an old font--and not every site has the 31 font files as DaFont has--I assume it is the same font files on the sites and so would have similar issues.

This issue isn't one I have seen with a font before when keeping the font as a font and making a PDF. I've seen many other issues with non-professionally made fonts, especially of that vintage or older, though. Using professionally made fonts is generally a good idea.

Anyway, just for fun I downloaded the version that is on FontSquirrel and will give it a try and see what happens.

It is the font that is faulty. I get the same behavior in a couple different applications I tried.

The good news is that the font is fixable. This screen shot is from a PDF after I fixed the font:

If this font family is going to be used regularly, send me a private message with your email address and I can fix the fonts you need and send you a private download link. For gratis, of course.

Take care, Mike

Wow, Mike, that is amazing that you were able to actually fix the font. It never even occurred to me that anyone had the ability to even do that.

The font style I'm using is the Walkway UltraBold. I haven't even looked at the vast majority of Walkway to know whether I'd ever have any reason to use them. Having said that, if you're able to send me your fixed version of UltraBold, that would be awesome.

I will take a look at any other styles in that family to see if I think I'll have any use for them in the future, and if so, I'll reach out to you and would offer to contribute $$ to a charity of your choice for your troubles!

Thanks again!

John
